PTDF Overseas Scholarship 2025/2026 – Now Open for Applications
The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is now accepting applications for its 2025/2026 Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme (OSS). This fully-funded scholarship supports Nigerians who want to study for a Master’s or PhD abroad and build strong careers in the oil and gas industry.
The announcement was made through PTDF’s official social media pages, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply and take advantage of this opportunity to study in top universities around the world.
What’s New in This Year’s Scholarship?
The scholarship programme has been improved to help Nigeria train more local experts in the petroleum industry. While students will still study in international universities, there is now a stronger focus on building skills that will benefit Nigeria directly.
PTDF says the goal is to reduce the need for foreign workers by helping young Nigerians gain technical skills and advanced knowledge.
Where Can You Study?
If selected, you can study in the following countries:

Will There Be a Scholarship Test?
In previous years, the PTDF Scholarship Aptitude Test was an important part of the selection process.
What to Know:
Before 2019, the test had two sections, similar to the NDDC scholarship test,
General Knowledge – covering current affairs, logical reasoning, and English
Technical Questions – based on your course of study (Engineering, Geosciences, etc.)
From 2019 onwards, PTDF moved to oral interviews only, skipping the written test entirely.
However, for the 2025/2026 application cycle, there’s a strong chance the aptitude test will be brought back due to the high number of applicants expected under the reorganized scheme.
If the test is reintroduced, candidates will need to be well-prepared.
