Sadc Tertiary Institution Essay Competition 2024 For Young South African Students Opportunities For Africans

The SADC Tertiary Institution Essay Competition 2024 invites students in tertiary institutions across SADC Member States to reflect on the achievements of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) since its formation. The essay topic for this edition is:
“What in your opinion has SADC achieved since its formation; and does it reflect the vision of its founders?”

Key Details:

• Eligibility: Open to active tertiary institution students in SADC Member States.
• Word Count: 4,000 words.
• Submission Process: Students must submit their essays to their respective Ministries of Education, which will select the top three national entries to forward to the SADC Secretariat for regional adjudication. Individual submissions to the Secretariat are not accepted.
• Deadlines:
  • National Level Submission: 29th February 2024.
  • Regional Level Submission by Ministries: 31st March 2024.

Prizes:

• Regional Winners:
  • 1st Prize: USD 2,000
  • 2nd Prize: USD 1,500
  • 3rd Prize: USD 1,000
  • Certificates for the top 10 winners, signed by the Chairperson of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence, and Security.
• National Winners: Certificates of recognition for the top three essays.
