This is the process of imparting the citizens with the knowledge of their rights, values and developing their skills and attitude towards the development and the affairs of their states.
Importance of Citizenship Education
The importance of citizenship cannot be overemphasized to Nigerian students. The following points below are the importance of citizenship:
- It’s an avenue for citizens to actually know where they belong and have a sense of belonging.
- The process of citizenship makes it possible for citizens to become legal members of a state.
- Citizenship enables citizens to know the symbol of Nigeria’s unity and to work towards making Nigeria a united nation.
- The process of becoming a citizen helps to increase the national population, therefore increasing the labor
- The process of becoming a citizen enables individuals to enjoy every benefit provided by the Government.
Roles of Citizens to Government
The citizens of a country have some roles or duties to perform to their Government, some of which are:
