EEDC Hiring Process

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company demands the following requirements below from only suitable candidates who can function effectively in any of the fields applied.

  • Applicants must have a four (4) years training certificate and must possess a Master’s degree, Bachelor’s degree or a Higher National Diploma in any of the fields obtained from a government-approved institution.
  • Secondary school certificate holders are eligible to apply for any of the job vacancies required for only WASSCE, NECO or GCE holders.
  • Interested applicants must be certified qualified electrical engineers and must have the knowledge and capacity to develop and maintain efficient electricity supply and meter installations.
  • Applicants must possess the professional skills to coordinate an economic system of electricity supply at any level when needed.
  • Five (5) credit passes and not more than two (2) sittings, including Mathematics and English Language, are required in West African Senior School Certificate Examination Certificate (WASSCE), National Examination Council (NECO) or General Certificate of Education (GCE).
  • Applicants must possess (National Identification Number (NIN) slip, Nigeria International Passport, Voter’s card etc.), a certificate of state of origin or identification and two recent passport photographs.
  • Years of experience in any of the fields and other professional certificates would be an added advantage.

About EEDC

Electric Power development in Nigeria started toward the end of 19th century when the first generating plant of 30KW was installed in the city of Lagos in 1898. From this date onwards and until 1950, the pattern of electricity development was inform of individual electricity under-taking set up in various towns somewhere by Native or Municipal authorities.
In 1946, the Nigerian Government Electricity undertaking was established within the then Public Works Development (PWD) to take over the responsibilities for electricity in Lagos State.
In 1950 the Government passed the Electricity Corporation of Nigeria Ordinance No.1 of 1950 to integrate power development and make it effective. This ordinance brought all the electricity undertakings and the electricity sections of PWD under control. The Electricity Corporation of Nigeria (ECN) then became the statutory body responsible for Generation, Transmission, Distribution and Sales of Electricity to all consumers in Nigeria.
