Quantitaive Reasoning

1.A man is riding a bike with front and back wheel circumference of 40 inches and 70 inches respectively. If the man rides the bike on a straight road without slippage, how many inches will the man have travelled when the front wheel has made 15 revolutions more than the back wheel?
A. 1100
B. 1120
C. 1400
D. 1300

The correct answer is C.

Explanation:
Given the ratio of the circumference of front wheel is 40 inches and back wheel is 70 inches
Distance covered = Circumference of the wheel × No. of Revolutions made by the wheel
If n is the number of revolutions made by back wheel, the number of revolutions made by front wheel is n+15
Distance covered by both the wheels is the same
40*(n+3)=70n
n=20
Front wheel : Back Wheel
Circumference 40 : 70
Revolutions 35 : 20
Distance covered 40×35 = 70×20 = 1400
(OR)
We know that
Revolution is inversely proportional to the circumference
So revolution will be in ratio 70X : 40X
7X : 4X
Given that front wheel made 15 revolutions more than the back here the difference is 7X-4X=3X
3X=15
Then X=5
Revolution in ratio 7×5:4×5=35:20
Front wheel : Back Wheel
Circumference 40 : 70
Revolutions 35 : 20
Distance covered 40×35 = 70×20 = 1400

2.In a palace, three different types of coins are there namely gold, silver and bronze. The number of gold, silver and bronze coins is 18000, 9600 and 3600 respectively. Find the minimum number of rooms required if in each room should give the same number of coins of the same type.

Find a number which exactly divide all these numbers
That is HCF of 18000, 9600& 3600

Factors of
180=22×32×5
96=25×3
36=32×22
Common factors are 22×3=12
Actual HCF is 1200
Gold coins (18000/1200) will be in 15 rooms
Silver coins (9600/1200) will be in 8 rooms
Bronze coins (3600/1200) will be in 3 rooms
Total rooms will be (15+8+3) = 26 rooms
